Pretty incredible rooftop gardens & styling in this fantastic editorial from i-D magazine (pre-Spring 2010). I'd love to see this more in big cities, especially here in Los Angeles. We could use more of these rooftops sanctuaries. All photography by Norbert Schoerner.

And on another note, I'm leaving for France tonight to spend some quality time with my mom and mother-in-law, with dear friends, and to tie up loose ends for our June wedding (and probably eat lots of good bread & pastries)! Pretty exciting! I can't wait to share when I get back. Lots of love...

pic.2

pic.1: working hard on our wedding this June! I just finished our invites + look book and will share them as soon as I get them back from the press* Big sigh of relief here...

pic.2: yesterday I decided to take a day-vacation and took V.V. up to Malibu for a nice day of sunshine, beach, books & nature. I felt super recharged after wards. I find it so important to do every once in a while. Pretty rock and wildflowers that I found along the way...

Springtime Fireplace

Pretty lovely way to set up a fireplace, don't you think? Especially with Spring just around the corner! Low-light plants are best for this: think mosses & ferns. You also want to make sure that the fireplace receives a little bit of sunshine. Incorporating branches and wood of some sort (like the stump in the pic above) keeps the look a bit wild, and if you can have at least 2 plants of the same kind it would pull the whole look together. I really like how all the pots match in texture & color but differ in size and style. Lovely.

WIld at Heart

I'm always inspired by photographers who blend the lines of fashion & nature. I think that Glynis Selina Arban's photos do it flawlessly.

DIY Shelter-Kit (aka: a new home)

Have you seen one of these prefabricated houses? I just about fell off my chair. Up above are pictures of different little kit-homes from different companies that you can order from and they send you a kit to build it! To make things even cooler, they're quite green. Most are made of recycled aluminum and wood, have features such as solar panels and insulating glass and you can even go above and beyond and have energy-efficient appliances! Or you can keep it super minimum and just have a beautiful space carved into nature with a chair and a good book. All you need is a nice plot of land and you can build yourself a home away from home or a little cabin in the woods for a retreat for a fraction of the price of a factory built home (the basic kit models start at roughly $10,000)!

Check here, here and here for ideas, floor plans & prices.

Wild Flowers Everywhere

I was going through a couple of old Nylon magazines and came upon this editorial titled 'Wild Flowers'. Got me thinking of how sweet it would be if more girls wore real flowers in their hair, pinned to their shirts, or tucked into pockets. What beats a wild-flowered headband? Pretty sweet.
