Yes, I could live in this stone house tucked in the Fafe Mountains in Portugal. I think my animals would really like it too. There are so many amazing people out there with wondrous talent and courage to build and create their aspirations and dreams. Who's with me?

OK so I lied. This post is not about flowers! But these photographs take my heart away. This is the kind of imagery that I strive for. Let this be the inspiration for flowers! I've always liked Natalia Vodianova's look and the way she is captured on film. Beautiful. All this thanks to honestly...wtf!

These are some photo techniques that I was testing out while we were in Santa Barbara. I feel like I captured a sentiment, an emotion, a feeling. What do you think? I mostly just appreciated the colors and stillness that was felt during these shoots. And the next post will be about flowers I promise!

We had soooo much fun! Santa Barbara is a really beautiful city and it's just so clean. It reminded me a little bit of Capetown in a strange way. Wine tasting is always quite fun, but doing it by the clean and magnificent Pacific is incredibly grand. We both felt like royalty when upon our arrival at the Canary Hotel we were upgraded to a junior suite 'just cause.' How amazing! So we stayed an extra night! I really enjoy spending down time with Elijah. We have so much fun together. And getting away, even if for only a short while, really does recharge my batteries. I come back inspired and ready to hit the pavement. How was your week?

Elijah and I are off to Santa Barbara for a couple nights and wine tasting! See you when we get back!

Happy Tuesday, kittens! Let's just all keep on purring*

Little Flower School

Even though you probably already know about this, and the classes are full, isn't it so wonderful that Little Flower School is paying us a visit in California! The second picture is of their Dutch Masters class which I would looove to take. They take inspiration from the teeming and luscious arrangements of the time, and look at what you get to create! Ah, it just makes me sigh out loud...If you live in Brooklyn or anywhere near, go treat yourself and take a class! Do it for me!! Haha ;)

(Little Flower School is the brilliant and über-talented Nicolette Camille from Nicolette Camille Floral Design, and the lovely and wondrous Sarah Ryhanen of Saipua).

MAV

I stumbled upon Maria Alexandra Vettese's work and was completely enamored! Take a look at her beautiful Journal of Plants! I love everything about her aesthetic and eye. She is so clever and her designs/concepts/photographs clean and simple. I am inspired and sparked! Thank you Maria*

The Rose of Jericho

Let me share a little jewel with you that was given to me as a gift by my dear friend Cheri. Have you heard of the Rose of Jericho? This little plant has the remarkable ability to hibernate in a dried, curled up state until water is introduced. It drinks the water up and awakens into a beautiful green plant! It's the coolest! And when you remove the water, it slowly goes back into a dormant state. There are two different plants, one from the Northern Africa/Southeast Asia and the other from Southwest U.S./Central America! Go out and get one and see the magic unfold in front of your eyes! Thanks Cheri*

Happy New Year!

Happy, merry 2011! I hope that all has gone swimmingly well so far! I'm excited and very much looking forward to this new year. My resolution is quite simple: have more fun! Instead of making a list of things that I need to do or improve on, I've decided to let go of all of that and simply make having more fun as my number 1 priority. Not that 2010 hasn't been a blast, but sometimes I feel like I let my serious side have the upper hand. So this year, in turn, more fun definitely equals more time, more laughs, more love, more light, more great food and the company of great friends and family, more adventures, more traveling, more flowers, & plants, more great books, more hikes with V.V., so much more photography, more trips to parks and faraway lands, more swimming in the ocean and yoga, more classes, oh how the list can go on! All this will surely alleviate my tight to-do list because it will grant me the space for more life which in turns equals more inspiration which fuels more creativity and finally fills me with more work and sense of accomplishment. Enough about me, tell me about what you would like to make of 2011...

* * * I wholeheartedly wish you a sincerely beautiful, healthy, loving year.* * *
