Frederick Bouchardy: Ames Sœurs

Have you ever smelled any of the scents that Frederick Bouchardy created for Opening Ceremony, Rodarte, or Alexis Bittar? The third Joya scent Ames Sœurs created by this scent whisperer is to be released soon and I want one of these limited beautifully 22kt gold encrusted porcelain candles! Since my blog is not a scratch n' sniff, his description will have to do for now (my heart is swooning):

The top notes are  tamarind, Cyprus and grapefruit; the middle is rose bulgur, ginger and orange blossom, and the dry-down is cedar wood, incense, amber and sweet musk, so the overall effect is orange blossoms, wrapped in smoke, incense and musk.

I took this the other night after leaving work. The flowers are a nice touch, no?
Pretty tough...

Fleurs Sauvage!

I know they're a little blurry, but how sweet is Button? She lost her eye when she was only a kitten but it doesn't stop her from anything. Even though she's the bossiest cat in our clan and really bullies the others, she is always by my side, helping. I let her get away with it all. Cute as a...BUTTON!

Here are some pics from this past weekend's pop-up, by the way! Getting a lil side-tracked!

Anja Verdugo

I fell upon these ethereal and ultra feminine images by Anja Verdugo this morning and really liked them. They kind of feel like Spring with a touch of darkness. I am pulling inspiration for my pop-up this weekend. I like the idea Spring with a touch of darkness. Hmmm...

Thunderwing Press

Yup. Sending you some good vibes today.

This is one of the most spectacular cards I have come across.
The paper it is printed on is especially soft.
The design especially inspired.
The design team behind it, especially brilliant.
Thunderwing Press. Check them out and get ready to be carried away...

Karen Walker's Little Aliens

Yesterday I had the grand honor to work with Claire Cottrell for Karen Walker's opening ceremony at the Chateau Marmont for her newest eyewear line Little Aliens. This was so amazing and so much fun on so many different levels. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Claire because she has such a peaceful demeanor and calm spirit about things. She is as lovely as they come. Working at the majestic Chateau was also such a perk because I haven't ventured to it's splendid grounds in such a long time. I had a really lovely sit in it's enchanting gardens after the event to enjoy a tea and a moment of stillness. This was so exciting for me that I didn't want to miss out on the moment; I wanted to sit there and drink it all up and appreciate it while still in it. And Karen is so beautiful...so, so pretty. wow.

Karen Walker's Little Aliens

Tomorrow I get to style some flowers for Karen Walker's Little Aliens eyewear line! How fun, right? I'm really excited. Oh, and did I mention it's at the bewitching Chateau Marmont. Haha! Extra fun! I haven't been there in such a long time. I might very well treat myself to some tea (or wine) in the gardens afterwards...

Easter Weekend Flower Pop-up!

I have to thank everyone who stopped by my Easter weekend flower pop-up this past weekend! What fun! It was so wonderful meeting you, exchanging kind words, smiles and stories! Really, I mean it. Some passerbyers simply stopped in to tell me how much they loved that their neighborhood had a little flower shop and that was so encouraging. If you couldn't make it, then perhaps one of these Saturdays this entire month of April: I'll be there at Space No.2 in Echo Park from 10am-6pm. See more here!

A MAJOR thank you to Marta & Robert of Cookbook for being incredibly supportive and generous with their time & space! None of this could be possible without them.

A heartfelt thank you to Tara of Silver Lake Farms for granting me the great honor to pick organic and pesticide-free flowers fresh from her peaceful fields tucked in the hills!

...and lastly, we had such a lovely little Easter egg hunt + brunch this past Sunday! Did you? My niece Kenzie + our neighbor Camille bonded over egg hunting, candy, confetti and bubbles in our garden! Life is so beautiful, truly.

I hope you had a really nice weekend too*

Louesa Roebuck

I just found out about Louesa Roebuck. Time to get the shears out and start foraging!
Read a fantastic article about her here.

After giving some of our houseplants a water bath a couple of nights ago, I also took the time to wipe off their rather dusty leaves. It was like a leaf massage for them. When Elijah came home he mentioned how perky and happy the plants looked. I told him about their massage and he said that he thought it was really important to take the time to touch your plants. He mentioned that in the wild the wind runs through their leaves and animals rub up against them and birds fly through them. He said they might miss that when indoors, especially if they are not close to other plants. Makes sense. I really love this thought. I really love Elijah...

Wild Flower Pop-Up!

Something rather magical has come to fruition and I am so excited to tell you about it: Tigers to Lilies has partnered up with the fantastic and one of a kind Silver Lake Farms to have a wildflower pop-up EVERY SATURDAY for the month of April (May too, hopefully) next door to Cookbook in their lovely space No. 2! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Here's the best part though: I am going to be picking wildflowers directly from the Silver Lake Farms fields! That means that you're going to get all natural wildflowers directly from their peaceful fields! No faraway shipping or flying, no packing them or spraying them down with pesticides and chemicals to make them last through arduous trips, no nothings! Just pure, happy wildflowers! Now isn't that just simple and simply wonderful?

When I met with Tara of Silver Lake Farms this past Friday at Tara's beautiful home in Silver Lake, we realized that there needs to be more of an awareness as to what an organic lifestyle really means. It's absolutely a great place to start with your food being organic but what about the rest? Flowers are sprayed with a ton of pesticides and chemicals and these not only go right onto your skin and the air you breathe, but into the soil from the fields and surrounding water sources. Flowers do not get much limelight on this subject but they should. I'm not going to overwhelm you with tons of info or stats or numbers right now, but there is something to be said about having natural flowers, don't you think? What are your thoughts? How do you feel about this?

For now let's just start with baby steps! More than anything, I am so honored to get the opportunity to have a pop-up that sells one of my most favorite things in the world: wildflowers!
I like to keep it simple first and foremost, and for me, that means au natural and wild! No extra anything needed-- I really hope to see you there...
