still descending...

image from here

back down to earth from this past Thursday's Summer Fête. It was such a beautiful, inspired evening with such a tremendously good vibe and overall wonderful turnout. For all of you who showed up, thank you. I seriously floated away...it was so, so lovely.

(It's funny because I really am still coming down from it. I always feel the slight pull of my heart's strings after an occasion of such magic and significance comes and goes. I was so enveloped with this fête and working hard to make it all happen and then it does happen and unfolds in such a majestic and heartfelt manner and then is over. Beautiful moments in time can sweep you up and take you away for a slight moment, and that's OK. I'll take my time putting my feet back solidly on the ground).

just to reiterate...

Wreath by artist Lauren Spencer King (one of many drawings she will be selling)!

one of my 35mm photographs

and one more ;)

SO this is it, an incredible summer party waiting to unfold for you tomorrow night! TIGERS to LILIES is extremely honored and proud to throw you a a midsummer fête, and here are some of the wondrous favors that await you:

Lauren Spencer King will be there and holding her own space with prints of her unbelievably beautiful line drawings and limited edition framed + signed originals!

Claire Cottrell will be sharing her short film Audrey Grace around an other-worldly art installation that will be sure to have you mesmerized by it's drenching beauty.

I'm going to be showing, for the very first time, some black and white 35mm photography inspired by the film. Yes, I'm nervous...and really excited...and anxious...and nervous, but excited...+ you know that wildflowers will dominate the scene! I've created 2 of the teeniest mobiles out of dried pressed wildflowers too!

James and Elijah (yes wonderful, lovely, handsome Elijah) will be there pouring drinks to your heart's content: on the menu is a lavender lemonade (spiked or not) + Pisco Punch! SOOO good! These boys worked hard on this menu!

Grilled cheeses + pies + a summer cake from the Pie Stand!

Music by Zac LaRoc

Dancing, dancing, dancing by you!

We are also screening 2 films: American Redwood Hot Tub documentary by Gabe Rosenn and the epic Crystal Voyager: a 1973 surf movie filmed, written and narrated by surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough.

Indigo Dye Workshop!

it truly doesn't get much lovelier than Britt Browne
our indigo vat

we all got our hands dirty and blue!
Britt uses black tea as the fix
Britt's indigo starters

I wanted one of Britt's work canvases to have as a comforter or table cloth!

Leave it to Lauren to execute a perfect Shibori stitch!

Brewing some magic!
I made a summer cake with nectarines + blueberries
the wax technique before the dyeing
I took my shoes and threw them in at the very end! Why not?

OK so I have to share with you just how AMAZING Britt Browne's indigo dye workshop was this past Thursday! Seriously: A SUCCESS WOOOO! It was the second workshop of the Midsummer Nights Crafts series and it was spectacular! We had over-spillage in attendance and magically we were able to accommodate everyone. After a quick lecture by Britt everyone was incredibly anxious to get their hands dirty and start dyeing! We had some incredibly good tunes playing thanks to the ample records to choose from, beers & prosecco & sparkling lemonade to sip on and a freshly baked summer cake to eat. What started off a bit modestly turned into people taking their pants & shoes off to throw into the indigo dye vat! It was addicting. It was also pure magic. Thanks to everyone who came and to the incredible Britt who showed everyone what a wonderful good time is all about! You're gonna want to check out more HERE!

If you would like to know more about the Midsummer Nights Crafts go here.
I would love to see pictures of how your dyed items came out so send them here!
If you would like to purchase some of Britt's indigo starters do so here.

x It was so nice meeting you Angie, Amy, Melissa, Mark and Taka x

It was the first time I have ever held a workshop and it really was an inspired evening. I thoroughly enjoy working with my hands and encouraging others to take the time to do the same. It was so lovely watching everyone working together, helping each other out, sharing stories and laughing together. I left completly lifted and floated all the way home. Midsummer Nights Crafts

OK so this is what I've been working on extensively these past few weeks! I am so excited to share with you a series of craft workshops that I've curated starting next Thursday at the amazing space of Shelter Half! Yay! What a tremendous opportunity! I feel like it is such a wonderful way to spend a summer's evening: listening to records, sipping on drinks, eating snacks inspired by summer's bounty, and meeting new friends while working on a craft together.

We have some really amazing artists that are going to lead some of the workshops including indigo queen Britt Browne and Krissy Morrison of Colour Plantae (and Thvm)! Yes we are going to get our hands dirty and do some dye-ing! Also a build-your-own Noguchi inspired lamp that you will want to hang in your home and a kokedama workshop so that you can create your own hanging string gardens! Lots of really, really good things to make and build! So are you in? I can't wait!

***A huge thank you to Lauren of Spencer Studio for creating such amazing artwork for our site and her constant stream of support and enthusiasm. I couldn't have done this without her! And another huge thank you to Virginie for her endless source of joy and encouragement of the arts! She is a well of inspiration and magic. This project would not exist without her***

Did you have a nice 4th of July? I feel like it represents that summer is in full swing. BBQ's, pool parties, afternoons at the beach, hikes, fireworks and fresh summer food.

I've been quite busy with a Midsummer Nights Crafts project where I am curating a series of workshops to be held at the lovely Shelter Half. I have some incredible artists on board and should have all the information up soon (hopefully by tomorrow). I think that you're going to be really excited! OK, I'm off to printers! I hope that you have a productive day.
