Shalimar de la Tefu Tefu

me + v.v. photo by Kumi
This is the sweetest! Thank you so much Choko and Sonoko for this really sweet post. I met these sisters while they were traveling through different cities in California to do research on a lifestyle book they were working hard on. Their book and blog emphasizes the importance of eating fresh food (preferably raw and vegan), drinking green smoothies and living with more nature and peace. They want to bring this awareness throughout Japan. Everything that I too believe in. So I had them over for tea and cake and we shared wonderful conversation about this kind of lifestyle living. They also told me about their old 70 Volkswagen bus that they were in the process of turning into a juice bus to drive around Tokyo and deliver juices! They clipped some herbs from my garden and made me the best green smoothie I have ever had! I hope to get to spend more time with Sonoko and Choko when they are here next or perhaps when I finally make it out to Japan.

Threading in The Choirs

photos Michael took of flora in his house
I made some new friends this past weekend and I am so happy that I did, I really am. Sometimes you meet people only once and you already know that you're going to be in each others lives and it's going to be even better for it! Check out Michael's pretty perfect site here and Leigh's pretty perfect site here.

BTW, what kind of flora is currently around your house?

Johnny Loves June (So Much)

Browsing through my dear friend and artist Lauren Spencer King's lovely cosmos, I came across this and I have read and re-read it all day. It's so moving, so heartfelt, so real. The story between June Carter and Johnny Cash is one of my most coveted tales of love. And then I got lost on the site where Lauren gathered these letters: Letters of Note. I just read and read and kept on reading during downtime at work today. Soooooo good. Go on and pay it a visit! And do take a moment to read the letter that Henry Miller wrote to Ana├»s Nin! Oooh. My. God!

(Sometimes I am so reluctant to spend too much time on the computer, and then on days like to today, where I find such letters, dare I say I am super grateful for the interweb and it's endless avenues of information).

Nothing to do with flowers, everything to do with life.
Thanks so much Lauren xx

a most gracious thank you

...to my bao, Elijah. To whom none of this would have been able to set sail so gracefully had it not been for his guiding eye, his encouraging words and constant love and support. Thank you my love.

St. Valentine's Day Pop-Up

A really big and heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up! It was a busy, busy day but I felt extremely grateful: to Marta & Robert of Cookbook for letting me use their beautiful space, to Shelter Half for granting me their grand scale space, to artist Lauren Spencer King for her winsome handmade cards, to artist Cheri Messerli for her bewitching marbleized papers, to Ben Medansky for his one-of-a-kind hand thrown ceramics and porcelains, and to each and every one of you who stopped by and gave me love from far and wide.

I read that 'flowers trigger emotions of happiness.' How very true. Really then, what could be better?

Just Like You

...also, a little shout out to Citizens of Humanity for including TIGERS to LILIES in their Just Like You section of their website. I was peacefully looking through all their featured lovely artists and almost fell off my chair when I saw the above image. I am honored to be included, really. Thank you!

Check this out!

Beth Hoeckel

I stumbled upon artist Beth Hoeckel's work today and was completely mesmerized. I want to visit these places that she has created through collage + photography. I have been thinking a lot lately about how to combine flowers and galaxies, plants and planets, gardens and outer space. A bit esoteric I know, but I am so super inspired by Beth's work. Have a look for yourself and get ready to float away. Thank you Beth.
